500 New Jobs
$180 Million Capital Investment
On May 23, 2012, Mohawk Industries announced plans to expand its operations in Chattooga County. The Fortune 500 company, headquartered in Calhoun, Georgia, is retrofitting two of its buildings in Summerville and constructing a new 250,000-square-foot facility adjacent. The Summerville operation recycles billions of reclaimed plastic bottles and containers into polyester fiber used to produce carpet; the expansion will improve the efficiencies of its recycling and manufacturing processes.
