140 New Jobs
$200 Million Capital Investment
On March 21, 2012, Starbucks announced plans to build a new plant in Augusta. The Richmond County facility will produce the company's VIA® Ready Brew coffee and ingredients for Frappucinos sold both in Starbucks outlets and in grocery stores. The Georgia plant will take over the work currently being done by third-party plants in Latin America, giving Starbucks more control over the process. The Augusta plant should be operational by early 2014. The project creates 140 jobs and brings capital investment of $200 million to the region.
Headquartered in Seattle, Starbucks Corp. operates 17,000 retail stores in more than 55 countries. In its most recent fiscal first quarter, revenue was $3.44 billion, with growth across all of its business lines.
