Global IT Center
On Feb. 20, 2013, Ernst & Young (EY) announced plans to open a global IT center in metro Atlanta, creating 400 high-paying jobs. A world leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, EY will hire project managers, business analysts, software architects, software developers, system analysts, executives, managers and other support positions at the facility in Alpharetta's Sanctuary Park. EY's expansion in Fulton County underlines a vested interest in the Atlanta region and reinforces the company's long-term strategic position in Georgia.
EY is a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited, headquartered in London. The company is has 167,000 employees worldwide, global revenues of US$24.2 billion and more than 700 offices in 140 counties, including locations in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, India, Africa, Japan and Oceania.
According to the Technology Association of Georgia, software and IT is the largest sector of the state's workforce and economy, with telecommunications and high-tech equipment close behind. Specifically, Atlanta has received national recognition in this industry, being ranked among the top 10 cities on several lists for IT, tech and start-up jobs and companies. GE Energy, ThyssenKrupp, NCR, Novelis, CBS and GM and several other companies have located or expanded operations in these sectors within the last two years.
