Mike Mainzer serves as a Data Scientist within the Research team and excels at building self-service data tools for end-users in web applications. Prior to joining the research team, he held the role of Data Analyst on the Education and Workforce Development team. In that role he designed and built the education team’s data pipeline. This included mobile entry applications, database storage solutions, Python scripting for data management, automation, visualization, and deployment with Power BI.
Originally from upstate New York, Mike Mainzer moved to Georgia to pursue his career in teaching. His background in both teaching and education and workforce development has prepared him well for the work he is doing as part of the Community & Economic Development Research team. A deep understanding of the importance of solid education infrastructure coupled with mad data science skills makes Mike one of the keys to our success.
Mike lives in Roswell, GA with his wife and their 2 dogs. He’s become quite the chef since the Covid-19 Pandemic forced him to cook and learn to prepare more dishes. When he’s not cooking, he enjoys hiking, bike riding, map making, or just looking at cool maps.
Mike Mainzer is a graduate of State University of New York at Brockport with a Bachelor of Science in U.S. History. He also completed General Assembly’s Data Science Immersive Program.
