What’s your role at Georgia Power?
Education and Workforce Development Manager. I've been in the role for six months, after moving over from human resources. I'm drawn to the education space because it's what starts the whole process. In HR, you are hiring in real time, and here we are building up to that moment, setting the stage for long-term opportunity for students and Georgia businesses.
Describe workforce development in Georgia in two words:
Emerging greatness.
Tell us your favorite part of your job.
The people. Across the state, not just in the organization. The passion that Georgia educators and staff have for their work and their students is infectious.
Favorite place in Georgia to get away to?
I love spending time in the mountains.
What about outside Georgia?
South Africa.
What was your very first job?
I worked at a greenhouse. I would assembly-line plant seedlings in an 85 degree greenhouse while it was 5 degrees outside in Minnesota.
What do you love about Georgia?
The people, the food. And at the end of the day, this state has everything you could need. Ocean and mountains, metro and rural.
What are you most excited about when you come into work?
I love that I'm on a team that is improving the chances of success for Georgia students and making sure that companies will have the future workforce they'll need. Doing work that makes a difference in someone's life feels good.
Go-to karaoke song?
NO ONE wants to hear me sing, so there is no go-to song. I care for humanity too much to subject anyone to that!
