Georgia Power Supports Tyler Perry Exhibit in Macon, GA

Georgia Power is proud to support the new installation of the Tyler Perry Exhibit, now at Macon’s Tubman Museum, the largest center in the Southeast dedicated to educating people about the Art, History and Culture of African Americans. Harold Young describes the incredible inspiration that Tyler Perry brought him as a child and wants to bring that forward to all.   That feeling of inspiration is what Young hopes all feel when they walk out of the exhibit, which is a creative collaboration between Young and Perry’s executive team.

The spacious 4,000 square-feet exhibit will be on display at the museum for two years. The wall-to-wall interactive exhibition covers the course of his life beginning with Tyler Perry’s humble upbringing and highlighting his life’s accomplishments while overcoming traumatic struggles that began in childhood. Landing the exhibit was a 6-year dream of Harold Young, the center’s enthusiastic Museum Executive Director. He once told his wife about his vision to attract the exhibit and she stated unequivocally, “It will happen.”

At Georgia Power, we’re especially excited about supporting Georgia’s film industry because of its unique diversity and reach as well as home-grown talent like Tyler Perry that breaks barriers and inspires others to reach new heights. We also are excited about supporting events with clean energy. We were proud to offer renewable credits to offset energy usage at the opening night of the exhibit. The energy generated for the event came from renewable resources such as solar farms.
