One Valdosta-Lowndes Initiative Announces New Co-chair

It's none other than our own Scott Purvis

We are proud to announce that our South Region Community Development Manager, Scott Purvis, has been named co-chair of the One Valdosta-Lowndes Initiative. This engaged group of community and business leaders has made a commitment to developing a community and economic development strategy for the entire Valdosta-Lowndes County community. The core team consists of representatives from the City of Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia Power, Valdosta-Lowndes Development Authority, the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce, the Hospital Authority, and Valdosta State University.

"It's a great honor to be named co-chair for the One Valdosta-Lowndes Initiative. This is a community-wide effort to bring people together and move the community forward. The core team has been wonderful to work with, and as we expand and bring on new members and more goals, the plan is really going to come together," says Scott.

Co-chair Dr. Richard Carvajal had this to say about Scott's new role: "With the clear and unanimous support of the One Valdosta Lowndes Core Team, I am thrilled to announce that Mr. Scott Purvis from Georgia Power has accepted our offer to serve as the new One Valdosta Lowndes co-chair. Most of you know Scott well, as he has earned the respect of many in this community thanks to his long record of involvement. In addition to being a highly valued member of the Georgia Power team, he was one of the original community leaders involved in first bringing our group together for the benefit of Valdosta and Lowndes County. He brings significant community planning and economic development experience to his work, and we will undoubtedly be the beneficiaries of his many talents and firm grasp of this community."

"At the end of the day, for this plan to be successful, we're going to need engagement from leaders and residents. We're going to work on growing opportunity, developing the talent base, aligning talent and education and finally - creating a sense of place in the community," says Scott. "I am honored to be a part of this team."
