When economic development organizations unite industry leaders, educators, students, and families, they create stronger, more resilient communities and businesses. Take, for example, Frito-Lay Company's Mentor Program and Textron's Reaching Potential through Manufacturing initiative—these partnerships are bridging the gap between industry and students throughout Georgia.

There's no one-size-fits-all solution, but Georgia Power's Regional Economic Development Team is dedicated to supporting and sharing local programs and best practices. Their goal? To inspire other communities and prove that Georgia is not only the best place for business but also a wonderful place to live and learn.

12 for Life (Carroll)

Combines traditional classroom instruction with job training and mentoring. Students learn key work skills while still in school.

Bearcat Workforce NOW (Decatur)

Offers job training and tips for workplace success to high school seniors that want to enter the workforce.

Career Ready Douglas (Douglas)

Teaches small cohorts of recent high school graduates the skills needed to fill entry-level manufacturing positions.

Cherokee Be Pro Be Proud (Cherokee)

Promotes 15 of Georgia’s most in-demand skilled professions through a hands-on Mobile Workshop and interactive website.

HCCA Industrial Maintenance Lab (Houston)

Uses hands on learning and mentorship to prepare students for work in a factory. Students are also mentored by Frito Lay employees.

Keep Glynn Running (Glynn)

Encourages students and young adults to consider careers in engineering and manufacturing, and outlines pathways to begin including job board.

Murray Works Employment Academy (Murray)

Equips high school with the skills to fill entry-level manufacturing jobs that become high-quality careers.

P3 - Pierce Pathway Portal (Pierce)

Allows students in CTAE pathways to tour local industries where their pathway could lead to potential job opportunities after graduation.

Project Purpose (Bartow)

Offers high-school seniors one-week courses in Soft Skills, Work Ethics, Safety in the Workplace, Quality Control, and more.

Project Purpose (Whitfield)

Offers a 2-week workforce training course to freshly graduated high school students interested in careers with manufacturers.

Project Purpose (Colquitt)

Introduces high school students to local industry opportunities. Events include boot camps, interviewing, job fairs, and industry tours.

Project Synergy Internship Program (Houston)

Responds to the need for software engineers at Robins Air Force Base by offering internships to college students.

Reaching Potential through Manufacturing (Richmond)

Provides students with classroom instruction, on-the-job training, key work/life skills, mentoring, and employment opportunities in manufacturing.

Regional Industry Support Enterprise (Coastal)

Facilitates of industry support services and includes six working groups: military, underrepresented, housing, education, transportation, and marketing.

Summer Youth Works (Laurens)

Provides summer employment for youth ages 16 to 18, connects them with potential employers, and provides positive role models.

The Workforce Plan (Thomas)

Focuses on early care, literacy by 3rd grade, pipelines to post-secondary, other barriers as it relates to the birth to work pipeline.

THRIVE (Dougherty)

Works with students on the key employability skills that the workplace demands and connects students to local employers.

Work UP Coweta (Coweta)

Provides hands-on training and practical simulations focusing on workplace settings in the West Georgia region.

Georgia’s College & Career Academies (Various)

Provides training and in engineering, biomedicine, technology, logistics, robotics, and many more of the skills needed to compete in the global market.

Coweta Apprenticeship Program (West GA)

Targets high school students to get them involved with companies in the county and immerse them in work-based learning environments.

Lineworker Apprenticeship Training (West GA)

Provides skills required for lineman employment, including safety protocols, construction techniques, and pole climbing proficiency.

SC Tech Registered Apprenticeship Program (Metro South)

Uses paid On-the-Job Learning (OJL) and Related Technical Instruction (RTI) to cater to workforce requirements.

Cherokee Summer Internship Program (Cherokee)

Provides a 6-week paid internship for high school juniors and seniors and places students with local employers.

Fort Valley State University Mobile Technology Labs (Middle GA)

Enables K-12 systems to learn more about careers in technology and introduces students and farmers to precision agriculture capabilities.

Work in Cherokee Campaign (Cherokee)

Helps Cherokee residents and recent graduates find jobs in their home community. New residents can become eligible for a $1,500 hiring bonus.

GreaterCareerWorks.com (Macon)

Upskills users with practical tools to help them achieve their goals, whether they are job seekers, students, or employers.
