Walkability and Local Transit
While Savannah is recognized as being one of the top walkable cities, local transit is provided by Chatham Area Transit (CAT) to move around the county. You can even catch the free dot shuttle that circulates through the historic downtown district and connects with the Savannah Belles Ferry to move back and forth from Hutchinson Island.
In addition, Savannah is piloting a free transportation program for downtown employees, similar to ride-share services like Uber and Lyft, that helps workers that work between 10pm and 5am get on-demand transportation.
